  1. Thoughly impressed with 252i

Posted by Bobby Wilson / Wilson's Welding Services on 17th May 2012

I had the opportuninty to run the ThermalArc 252i Fabricator through all of it's process capabilities. This machine is light weight, incorporates easy to use process control settings and comes with a built in wire feeder.
The feature that I liked with GMAW process is that it creates a pinch off effect that eliminates that large ball on the end of electrode when finished with weld. This would make tack welding and hot restarts much better.
The machine also features programmable spot and stitch for GMAW.
TIG is Lift-arc and extremely stable smooth arc characteristics with a very easy to set down slope. Lowest setting is about 10 amps.
I also used the Spoolgun and was pleased with it's performance also. It has the button to open drive rolls for very easy feeding of new spool. One MAJOR thing to REMEBER when using the spoolgun; Turn OFF the pitch setting that is used to blow off the ball on carbon wire, otherwise at the end of your puddle it will blow out the crater with aluminum wire. This is an EZ fix.
I am a welding instructor at a high school and own my own welding businiess also; this machine is my choice for performance, multi-process capabilities and price.
